1. Soo time to review a game… Fallout New Vegas.

Right, well I went on a proper buying game session, that included ones that I used to have (but sold) or have played and wanted. Also, some new additions like Fallout: New Vegas.

So here’s my take on New Vegas.

New Vegas, so far, is pretty good but it is fucking hard if choose to play it on the hardcore mode like I have. It makes it a lot more difficult because you have more things you have to worry about on top of the usual gameplay stuff.

I have been playing it on and off the past 3 days and so far i like it, although it is very similar to Fallout 3. Then again you have to expect that, duhhh. It is pretty much is the same game just a new name and different surroundings. Don’t get me wrong it’s brilliant, and the new additions of mutant critters and traits is quite good.

I took on the Wild Wastlander trait for a laugh, and it hasn’t dissapointed. Basicly its a random incounter thingy where as your wandering through Mojave wasteland you cound encounter say a fridge.. that has Indiana Jones in it. Or some unique dialogue choices. It alters some events that already occur, to make them just a little bit more comical as well.

At the moment in the game, I am wandering aimlessly just past Primm looking for something to do. Me being me - I always start by looking for as many places as possible as to make the game travel less painful and time consuming in the long run.

There is a few new additions to the weapons with new pistols, rifles and plasma weapons. Plus with the new weapons comes new types of ammo which you can now make yourself. Making ammo, modding guns and making posions all seems abit odd but until you play it you won’t know how good these addons are. I think it’s a really good addition. It sounds more complicated than it is in-game though, trust me.

New beastys include ‘blue’ super mutants or if you woant to use their real names - the Nightkin. I haven’t encountered these yet. There is also mutant preying mantis, Geckos which are annoyingly fast and quite big. Oh, and a variant on the old radscorpion seems to be a ‘bark scorpion’ or something? There are also the same old ones like radroaches, deathclaws and giant molerats (Of which I found a friendly one called Snuffles who is actually surprisingly, pretty cute).

Ill bring more of the game once I’ve played abit more, but for now have fun with this and have even more fun playing the gameeee, aha. I’m sure Lili will fill you in a bit more while I play it today as she’s had a go on it too.

  2. Zero Punctuation

Zero Punctuation is The Escapist’s groundbreaking video review series starring Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw. Every Wednesday Zero Punctuation picks apart the games so you don’t have to. Called “hilariously cutting … first legitimate breakout hit from the gaming community in recent memory” by Boing Boing, see why gamers love it and developers fear it.” - Source

We both love Zero Punctuation. It’s funny, very very funny, and it also gives you a pretty good review of some games. Even games you love are great to watch being reviewed, because more often than not, the true aspects are picked apart, and you’re left there sitting and nodding, going “yeah, yup, yeah that’s true”. Haha.
If you’re not already a fan/watcher, just go have a look at a couple, and no doubt you’ll be hooked on them!

  3. 2 notes
  4. Been playing a little bit of Dead Or Alive 4

Not much though. Completed about 3 character storylines so far.
I love/hate it though. It’s great when you’re playing with a reasonable character, where you’re neither getting your arse kicked or just destroying everyone else with the flick of you wrist. I like it when it’s equal, and it actually requires a bit of tactical thinking as to what moves you’re going to do next.
I was playing as some drunken guy and got to a point where I threw the controller at the wall. He was slow, barely moved, and just generally difficult to control. Then when I start playing at the giant pro wrestler guy  (Tina’s dad, I think?) everyone pretty much just K.O’ed after a throw or two against the wall.

I love DOA games, but I think they just need some more defined ‘difficulty’ level, or at least a way to up your stats with your character, instead of just unlocking fucking costumes.
